Instructions for Attendees

We have attempted to keep registration costs as low as possible to cover our events space, food and refreshments.

The registration fee covers both days of the workshop.

We ask all attendees to register so we can keep an eye on space and communicate joining instructions for online attendees.

Directions on campus

The workshop will be held in the County South Events Space.

If you arrive via public transport (bus), you should stop at the Underpass stop. Buses only stop on one side so don't be alarmed when the bus drives right through without stopping as it will go around a roundabout and come straight back down to stop! Go up either set of stairs to emerge on Alexandria Square in the centre of campus. A lift is available at the far end of the underpass to the square as well.

Once in the square you should head north up along the spine walkway for about 2 minutes, passing the Margaret Fell Lecture Theatre and then a launderette on your right before getting to an opening on the right with a narrow path between buildings. Take this path and cross the quad diagonally and pass through two sets of automatic double-doors (entering and exiting a small lecture theatre lobby) and then the venue door is just ahead on the left. The whole route is highlighted on this MazeMap link and there will be direction signs up from the right turn after the launderette to guide you.

If you arrive via car, there are multiple car parks available - you can see these on the above MazeMap link and use it to generate subsequent walking directions if needed. All on-site parking requires payment via card or RingGo app. Taxi drop-offs typically happen near the Welcome Centre; we'd suggest walking to Alexandra Square from there and then following the walking instructions above rather than try to zig-zag through the quads.

Traveling to Lancaster

Lancaster is easy to get to using the west coast mainline (2h30 from London, 2h from Glasgow/Edinburgh). We are also directly a short distance from Junction 34 of the M6 motorway. See maps and travel instructions. We would ask you to observe our charter and consider how to minimise the footprint of your travel and accommodation, for instance using ground travel or sharing.

Staying in Lancaster

There are numerous accommodation options nearby. You can directly stay on campus in the guest bedrooms from £70 per night. There are many options in the city of Lancaster, and we'd highly recommend walking, cycling or public transport to campus. See local travel advice.

Lancaster House Hotel is right next to campus and its dynamic pricing means that competitive room rates can be found. The Sun Hotel or Toll House are good local options if staying in the city nearer to restaurants and the many local pubs.
